Malaysia’s Bromme Cream Cheese showcased its flavoured halal vegetable cream cheese at the Malaysia Halal Expo 2019. The cream cheese uses only vegetable rennet from bromelain enzyme (from pineapple stem) to replace rennet from animals. The use of animal rennet is a source of concern for Muslim consumers who are not sure whether the process of slaughtering the animal is done in accordance with Islamic practices.
The new Qhee Jo cream cheese is available in seven flavours including blueberry, original, chocolate, matcha, durian and savoury.
