COVID-19 has become a catalyst for companies to explore and create new business model. Some of them are turning to home-based entrepreneurs to recruit more consumers, while providing employment opportunities to people during the economic downturn. In Indonesia, coffee chain Mr Coffeeholic has introduced Coffeepreneur/home franchise to sell coffee drinks from home.
The initial model of IDR 7.5 million (USD 500) covers franchise fee, raw materials, equipment (espresso machine) and packaging materials. We suspect the coffeepreneurs will be selling Mr Coffeeholic ready-to-drink coffee beverages. The RTD format is becoming popular with beverage chains to target at-home consumption to supplement the take-out business.
