Himalayan Rock Salt & Lemon is a new drink launched in Malaysia offering a cooling after taste. At first glance, this beverage does look like the famous Himalayan Salt Candy by Nicko Jeep Manufacture Sdn Bhd (Big Foot) with a similar dark background and yellow colour scheme.
However, if you look closely, you will notice the owner of the rights of manufacture is actually Cadiz Advance Sdn Bhd, a company located in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya. The trademark is owned and used under the authorisation of Telmuun OCH LLC.
The key ingredients in the Himalayan Drink are carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, Himalayan salt, natural lemon flavour, sodium citrate and potassium sorbate. This brightly yellow colour drink has a cooling after taste that lingers in the throat.
For those who are wary of sugar, this drink contains 9.92g of sugar/100ml, giving it a total sugar content of 24.8g per serving size of 250ml. Total sodium is 49.4mg/100ml or 123.5mg/250ml, while energy is 41kcal/100ml or 102.30kcal/250ml.
Himalayan Rock Salt and Lemon is available at 7-Eleven at RM 3.40 per can.
This Himalayan drink does serve as an inspiration for manufacturers to extend their brand into other segments (eg from candy into drink) to cater to new consumption occasion.
