In an interesting twist of development, US food and beverage maker PepsiCo is returning to Indonesia with the building of a new snack factory in Cikarang in West Java. PepsiCo broke away from its local partner two years ago, ending their 30-year-old joint venture in 2021.
Now, PepsiCo will have a free reign to determine the strategies to unlock opportunities in the Indonesian snack market. PepsiCo was a minority partner in the joint venture with a 49% stake in PT Indofood Fritolay Makmur.
We expect the new Cikarang factory will support PepsiCo’s food operations in Southeast Asia.
