‘Best Healthy Restaurant’ is the new category introduced at the Award, reflecting the critical need to align with Singapore’s public health goals
November 12, 2024, Singapore – The RAS Epicurean Star Award 2024, organised by the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS), marked a significant step forward in the F&B industry’s commitment to health-conscious dining in line with Singapore’s health goals on the national level. The Award, which took place this evening, celebrated Singapore’s vibrant culinary and restaurant scene and the hardworking and talented workforce in the F&B industry. The 29th edition of the Award was held at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore, Expo and Convention Centre, and was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health.
The Award, the most anticipated annual event in the nation’s F&B industry calendar, honours the best in Singapore’s restaurant scene, focusing on key themes such as health, sustainability, innovation, and culinary excellence. The Award serves as Singapore’s premier platform for recognising the devoted service staff and talented chefs in the F&B industry who have worked tirelessly to elevate the standards of the local dining scene. This year, the Award received a record 204 nominations from 157 F&B establishments across 25 categories, marking a 36% increase over 2023 and the highest number of submissions to date.
In response to the call for healthier eating and to support the health of Singapore’s population, the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) introduced a new award category at the RAS Epicurean Star Award 2024 – ‘Best Healthy Restaurant’. This new category reflects diners’ growing preference for healthier menu options and greater transparency around ingredients. Recognising this shift in consumer demand, the F&B industry is aligning with these priorities through the Best Healthy Restaurant category, celebrating establishments that prioritise health-conscious choices for diners.
The introduction of the Best Healthy Restaurant category not only highlights the Award’s distinguished nominees who have embraced healthier menu options but also celebrates their positive contributions to Singapore’s culinary landscape and public health. By prioritising nutritious ingredients and mindful preparation, these nominees are setting new standards in the F&B industry, inspiring others to consider the health impact of their offerings. This shift toward healthier dining choices reflects an evolving culinary scene that values wellness and aligns with national health goals, benefiting both diners and the broader community.
A Gala Dinner Menu Celebrating Health, Innovation, and Sustainability
The Epicurean Star Award 2024 spotlighted key themes such as nutrition and health, innovation, waste reduction, local abundance, and shared experiences within the F&B industry. Unilever Food Solutions presented these as part of its Future Menus showcase. These themes were thoughtfully replicated in the gala dinner menu for guests, featuring dishes jointly created by celebrated chefs from diverse culinary backgrounds. Highlights included creations by Chef David Pynt of Burnt Ends, Chef Tatsuya Wakuda of WAKUDA & Waku Ghin, Chef Wayne Liew of KEK Seafood, and Chef Hoi Kuok I of Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This exceptionally crafted menu exemplified the Award’s dedication to promoting health-conscious, sustainable, and innovative dining experiences.
