KL Chinatown Festival 2024 Attracts 15,000 Visitors in a Celebration of Community, Culture, and Creativity

A 3-day celebration across Chinatown’s cultural landmarks, featuring Malaysia’s homegrown artists and musicians, cultural experiences, creative workshops and talks, heritage walks, and more! 

Kuala Lumpur, 4 December 2024 – The inaugural KL Chinatown Festival concluded with a resounding success, drawing an impressive 15,000 attendees over three days. From 29
November to 1 December 2024, the festival transformed Kuala Lumpur’s historic Chinatown into a dynamic hub of culture, creativity, and community, celebrating the rich heritage that defines this iconic district.

Unifi Mobile KariPop Market brought all the retro 60s vibes – with bustling local markets, free F&B bites, and exclusive cultural performances, from stilt walkers to Chinese opera to traditional percussion, supported by friends at Kreatif KL!

Spearheaded by REXKL and Kwai Chai Hong, the festival united community leaders and local partners to transform cultural landmarks like Lorong Panggung, REXKL, and Kwai Chai Hong into dynamic creative hubs, complemented by vibrant local businesses, cafes, and art spaces. The event offered an immersive experience that blended Chinatown’s old-world charm with modern vibrancy, bringing its unique character to life.

Neucvr collaborated with Fung Wong Bakery and Floccus for an exclusive pop-up, unveiling a collection of heat-pressed designs inspired by the bakery’s rich heritage – wearable pieces celebrating the essence of this iconic, century-old brand.

Together with YB Teresa Kok, 200 participants joined a solidarity walk with women from YWCA KL, YWCA Malaysia, and Soroptimist International Malaysia to unite against gender-based violence. The 2km walk through downtown KL was followed by a light breakfast at YWCA KL and a panel discussion on gender-based violence.
