Kuala Lumpur, 7 March 2025 – This Hari Raya, Malaysians are invited to share stories together—one cup of coffee, one song, and one sembang at a time through the Sembang-Sembang Dengan ZUS campaign. At the heart of it is a song titled “Cerita Malam Raya” that celebrates the importance of being present—putting down our phones and cherishing real moments together.
Brought to life through a collaboration between ZUS Coffee, Faithful Music, Loko Films, Luqman Podolski, and Zeppo Youngsterz Crew, the track blends the warmth of Hari Raya with a comedic horror (lawak seram) twist—captured through following a family gathering on the night of Raya as they navigate an eerie yet amusing experience together, reminding Malaysians that at the heart of every celebration is a shared, memorable experience and the art of conversation. The concept of ghost stories has been woven into Hari Raya films and late-night conversations for generations.
“Cerita Malam Raya is a project that reminds us of the fun that happens when we put our phones down and truly sembang with each other. It’s collaborations like these that remind us why we love working with local talents like Luqman, Faithful Music, Loko Films, and Zeppo Youngsterz Crew—because when we come together, sparks fly, ideas flow, and we create a piece that resonates with the community,” said Shafiqah Othman, Creative Director of ZUS Coffee.
“I truly appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with ZUS Coffee and be part of the creative process for the Cerita Malam Raya music video. The arrangement by Faithful Music really brings out the festive spirit! Dance performed by Zeppo Youngsters accompanying the song further brought the festive spirit to life,” said Luqman Podolski, a content creator and singer.
He added, “Cerita Malam Raya brings a fresh and unique twist to Hari Raya, combining the festive spirit with a thrilling storyline. The ghosts were terrifying, making it an exciting and unforgettable project to be part of. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did creating it.”
Another key aspect of the ‘Sembang-Sembang Dengan ZUS’ campaign, ZUS Coffee has collaborated with a local artist collective, Projek Sembang-Sembang, known for nostalgic Malaysian and expressive artwork. Their visual expression brings the campaign to life through exclusive designs on its products and packaging.
Beyond the music video and packaging, ZUS Coffee rolls out Ramadan and Raya specials—offering 1L Bottled Necessity discounts for Iftar and teasing a Corn Series for Raya. Festive collectibles will include Sampul Raya, Sticker Raya, Sembang Raya Keychains, and a ZUS Raya Card Game, designed to spark meaningful conversations during gatherings. These will be available later in March. The tumbler series is an online exclusive.
ZUS Coffee invites Malaysians to take part in the Cerita Malam Raya Dance Challenge, where they can showcase their best dance moves to the song for a chance to win one year of free coffee. Participants simply need to share their dance videos on TikTok and tag ZUS Coffee to enter. Beyond the dance challenge, Malaysians are also encouraged to use #SembangSembangDenganZUS to share their funniest or spookiest Raya stories, continuing the tradition of sembang-sembang that inspired the song.
The Cerita Malam Raya music video will be available on ZUS Coffee’s official YouTube channel and can be accessed directly via this link: https://youtu.be/BbxDOKXd5ic. It will also be released on Instagram, and TikTok, allowing fans to fully experience the song’s comedic and festive energy.
