Malaysian beverage brand Hausboom is expanding into the functional soft drinks space with the launch of Hausboom Prebiotic Sparkling Drink Apple Asam Boi, reflecting the mushrooming of prebiotic soda in the country. Widely popularised in North America, prebiotic sodas are beginning to gain traction in Malaysia as local brands seek to bring gut-health-focused soft drinks to mainstream consumers.
The new sparkling drink blends the sweet-and-sour flavours of green apple and asam boi (preserved plum), a flavour combination that is well known among Malaysian consumers. Positioned as a better-for-you carbonated beverage, the product features 5g dietary fibre per serving. According to the product packaging, the beverage also contains 55% less sugar and provides a source of dietary fibre.
