Japan’s Yakult Honsha said the Yakult El Salvador Manufacturing Corp of its 40%-owned unit, Yakult Philippines, had started producing Yakult. The new factory, the second for Yakult in the Philippines, is located in El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental in the northern part of Mindanao Island. It will supply markets to its south and Visayas.Â
The initial output is 1.38 million bottles a day. After facility enhancement, the maximum production capacity will reach 2.76 million bottles per day.
The first factory in Calamba Plant has an output capacity of 4.7 million bottles per day, producing both Yakult and Yakult Light.
For the 12 months to December 2023, Yakult sold 3.7 million bottles of Yakult of all variants a day compared to 3.8 million bottles in 2022.Â
In Vietnam, Yakult started selling Yakult Light on 1 April 2024 to provide consumers with a low-sugar and low-calorie product.
