As the world faces the growing issue of fashion waste, there’s a fresh opportunity to make a positive impact. According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), a staggering 254,000 tonnes of textile waste were generated in 2022, with only 2% being recycled. That’s the equivalent of 180 shirts per resident going to waste!
Within Capitol Singapore lies Swapaholic’s latest pop-up, aptly called the Swapverse, where shoppers are invited to discover an array of preloved and ethical fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands under one roof. Motivated by a determination to meet the Singapore Green Plan’s goal of reducing waste sent to landfills by 30% per capita, the pop-up hosts a buzzing community of green fashionistas, donating and swapping preloved pieces. Furthermore, there’s no need to be concerned about age or size – there’s a section for everyone!
There’s a hubbub of activity every month, with activities for little ones, green parties, and eco experiences.
Upcoming events
What keeps Swapaholic’s 20,000 strong customer base coming back for more is the plethora of exciting events that bring members of the community together. Some events include ‘Little Eco Warriors – Green Halloween’ happening on October 19th, where the little ones can swap their books, take part in a treasure hunt, and sit in for a storytelling session.

500,000+ Fashion items saved
Swapaholic’s concept prioritises an eco-conscious approach – patrons can sell or swap in their preloved items, for cash or other traded pieces. The NEA partner has since helped to save over 500,000 pieces of fashion items, 1.2 billion litres of water and 3.9 million kilograms of CO2e emissions over its journey. What’s more, it’s the first company in Singapore’s fashion category to be recognised as a B Corp social enterprise, having earned the status in 2018.
The omni channel approach has proven itself in its ability to empower individuals to be more environmentally conscious, with activities expanding past the circular trading platform, such as educational programmes and interactive events.
