Metier Food discontinues Thips

Malaysia’s Metier Food Sdn Bhd announced the closure of its tempeh chip brand Thips in early February 2025. This comes on the heels of the discontinuation of its pea-based drink Snappea in September 2023.

Metier Food is likely to focus its resources on expanding its flagship brand, Heal Nutrition, which recently launched Heal Protein Puffs. These puffs are a better-for-you snack option, boasting over 20g of protein and 3.4g of fibre per serving, and come in Thai Tom Yum and Sour Cream & Onion flavors.

Despite the discontinuation of the company’s Thips product, the Malaysian market is experiencing a rise in tempeh chips as consumers increasingly seek healthier snack alternatives. The higher price point of tempeh chips compared to other snacks is likely limiting their wider adoption and keeping them a niche product for now.
