Singha Highball rolls into South Korea, China’s Wuliangye debuts Wuliang Highball

Singha is capitalising on the highball trend in South Korea with the launch of Singha Highball. The Singha Highball has an ABV of 4% and is available in Peach and Yuzu Lemon. 

Younger generations (Millennials and Gen Z) drive the highball trend in South Korea. They are looking for moderate drinking experiences and affordable luxuries, which the highball delivers perfectly. Highballs are seen as a simpler and more budget-friendly alternative to complex cocktails.

Highballs are known for being light, refreshing, and easy to drink. The carbonation and ice make them perfect for hot Korean summers.

There is also room for experimentation where different whiskeys, mixers, and garnishes can create various flavour profiles.

Even China’s white spirit producer, Wuliangye, has joined the trend with the launch of Wuliang Highball for the Korean market. 

Thai Spirit Industry unveils low-calorie Sour Wave at THAIFEX 2024

Thai Spirit Industry is experimenting with various drink concepts, including the low-calorie Sour Wave. First featured at THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2024, Sour Wave (320ml) is an alcoholic drink with 5% ABV made with real juice. The real lemonade sparkler is available in Original or Strawberry Lemonade and is perfect for any occasion. 

Alcoholic lemonade capitalises on consumer’s desire for refreshing summer drinks with a boozy twist. The drink offers a familiar flavour with a grown-up touch.

In South Korea, we have seen the launch of lemon highball with real sliced lemon in the drink. A good example is Brewguru Real Lemon Highball.

Thai Spirit Industry catching up with industry trend with N/A alcoholic malt drink

Thai Spirit Industry is catering to the needs of sober consumers with the new non-alcoholic malt drink N/A. The company featured the drink at the recent THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2024 held in Bangkok in May 2024. N/A is a drink brewed with malt and hops with all the flavours without alcohol. What is interesting is the company positions N/A as a post-workout recovery drink in addition to relaxation and stress relief.

While studies show beer has carbohydrates and some sodium, which could be beneficial post-exercise, many beg to differ on the benefit of drinking beer after exercise.

Still, many participants in run clubs and recreational sports teams end up in the bar after their session, and now many are ditching the alcohol for a non-alcoholic version. This is where US-based Athletic Brewing Company comes in with its range of non-alcoholic drinks, which provide athletes with their carbs after a workout. Athletic Brewing recorded revenue of USD 90 million in 2023. 

Thai Spirit Industry’s N/A probably caters to this section of this same group of community.

Thailand Coffee Fest 2024 Kicks Off: Connecting Nature, Coffee, and People 11-14 July 2024 at IMPACT Exhibition Halls 5-8 Muang Thong Thani

Friday 12 July 2024 – Thailand Coffee Fest 2024, the largest coffee festival in Southeast Asia, has officially begun. This year’s event is themed “Regeneration,” focusing on the holistic improvement of nature, coffee, and people through creative activities and over 300 shopping booths spread across 20,000 square meters. Attendees will have the chance to meet world champion baristas and renowned coffee experts who will share their knowledge and surprise coffee lovers throughout the event. The festival runs from today until July 14, 2024, at IMPACT Exhibition Halls 5-8, Muang Thong Thani.

Ms. Natdha Khunawutthanathon, President of the Specialty Coffee Association of Thailand, stated, “The core mission of the Thailand Coffee Fest is to elevate the Thai specialty coffee industry by supporting and developing all sectors involved, from upstream to downstream. This includes the Thai Specialty Coffee Awards 2024, which aims to educate and promote coffee farmers, and the Thailand Es Yen Championship 2024 and Thailand Coffee Event 2025, which seek to find national champions to compete globally in the Thailand National Brewers Cup Championship 2025 and Thailand National Barista Championship 2025. Visitors will also benefit from a variety of high-quality products, making the Thailand Coffee Fest more than just an event, but a reunion that brings together all parts of the coffee industry to share knowledge, experiences, and products closely, ultimately building a strong and sustainable community for Thai specialty coffee.”

Additionally, we recognize the potential of Thai specialty coffee to compete internationally. Therefore, we have created opportunities and spaces for international participants to exchange coffee cultures and inspire one another through the Coffee Around the World zone. This year, participants from nine countries, including Peru, Indonesia, South Korea, and Panama, will join the event.

Coca-Cola Thailand unveils COCA-COLA x Marvel: The Heroes, the latest groundbreaking collaboration with Marvel, featuring immersive storytelling and a digital experience with fans’ favorite Marvel characters. Coca-Cola’s relationship with Disney began more than 60 years ago, and the two iconic brands have continued their strong collaboration across projects, universes and multiverses – such as the iconic Marvel Universe.

In Coca-Cola and Marvel’s latest limited-time campaign, the brands have joined forces to bring the world of Marvel to life in an exciting new way with a brand new film by delivering a never-before-seen consumer experience through exclusive, limited-edition Coca-Cola pack designs featuring 10 illustrations, digital collectable characters, and an immersive AR extension on Coca-Cola’s website.

This heroic collaboration will be supported by a 360 global campaign, which includes new creative that will run across cinemas, digital, and other video sharing platforms, as well as out-of-home programming at the downtown of Bangkok including at Central World, Siam Paragon and Lido. The campaign further enhances consumer engagement, especially with Gen Z, through an immersive AR social contest. By scanning the QR code on ‘Coke’ packaging, consumers can embark on an adventure with characters appearing on their screens. This new line of exclusive cans and bottles will feature heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe in over 10 designs. Illustrated with a balance of white, red, and black tones that highlight the characters, these cans leverage contrast to amplify the attention to detail within each limited-edition character design. The cans will be scannable, and each will bring its character to life in a unique way through AR. In addition to collectable cans and thrilling AR experiences.

The Marvel heroes and villains featured in 10 designs across these limited-edition products are:

Doi Kham debuts functional jelly strips for sleep and skin, new durian juice

Doi Kham has introduced two new nutritious, functional jelly products in Thailand: Tomato Plus Collagen Jelly and Chamo Nite Jelly. The better-for-you jelly strip format is popular these days due to its ease of consumption and portability.

Chamo Nite Jelly promotes sleep and comes with Kyoho grape flavour and ingredients that promote a good night’s sleep, such as mulberry (300mg), chamomile (50mg), l-theanine (50mg), goji berry, magnesium, tart cherry powder, saffron extract and grape seed extract. The price per sachet is THB 49.

Tomato Plus Collagen Jelly improves skin complexion, brightens, prevents wrinkles, and protects from UV rays. The jelly contains lycopene (30mg), equivalent to nine tomatoes. Other ingredients include tomato extract (300mg), collagen peptide (2,000mg), pomegranate extract (100mg), l-glutathione (50mg), l-cysteine, zinc, nicotinamide, DL-alpha-tocopheryl, selenium, biotin, vitamin C and A. The price per pack is THB 49.

In another development, Doi Kham has released 100% durian juice in a pouch that is mainly targeted at tourists. The price is THB 95. Tourist-focused products thrive on a steady flow of visitors.

 

Neribana High takes the can approach

Neribana High, a non-alcoholic soju drink in Thailand infused with CBD, has unveiled a new canned version of the drink. The drink, which helps with relaxation, comes in various flavours including original and peach. The canned beverage is also lower in sugar.

CBD drinks are facing uncertainties as the Thai government floated plans to relist the plant as a narcotic.

Ajinomoto Philippines enters the instant soup category with Soup & Go

Ajinomoto Philippines is offering consumers a convenient, flavourful and nutritious breakfast dish. The new Ajinomoto Soup & Go is made with carefully selected ingredients from Japan, like corn from the Hokkaido farms (just for corn flavor) and authentic milk from Japan (for all flavours), says Mr. Koichi Ozaki, president of Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC), as reported by philippinesgraphic.com.ph.
