Bibigo aims to popularise Korean mandu in Malaysia

CU convenience store in Malaysia has partnered with Bibigo to launch the new mandu or Korean dumpling series. Surprisingly, Malaysians do not relate to Korean dumplings when thinking about K-food.

The key reason why Korean mandu is not popular in Malaysia is the fact that mandu looks uncannily similar to Chinese dumplings. There is no reason for local consumers to pay more for mandu.

Bibigo, the Korean food brand by CJ CheilJedang, is changing that perception by collaborating with fellow South Korean convenience store CU to elevate the taste of mandu with a limited-edition menu that includes a locally inspired offering.

  • Rabokki with Chicken Mandu
  • Hot and Spicy Tteokbokki with Chicken Mandu
  • Laksa with Chicken Mandu

To popularise Korean dumpling in Malaysia, Bibigo needs to infuse more Korean elements into its mandu with more campaigns similar to the ones with CU. 

Make smoothies at Cheers with Smooder

Cheers convenience store in Singapore has installed Smooder’s proprietary automated and self-cleaning smoothie blending machines at two locations – KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital and the National University of Singapore as well as at selected Fairprice Xpress outlets. Consumers can blend the following smoothies using the machine:

  • Strawnana – Banana, Strawberry, Yoghurt
  • Mango Tango – Mango, Banana, Yoghurt
  • Cheeky Lychee – Lychee, Blueberry, Mango, Yogurt
  • Green Pina Colada – Pineapple, Banana, Spinach, Yoghurt

In another development, Cheers has made 100PLUS Slushy, the isotonic drink in a refreshing, new icy form, available at Sentosa Beach Station’s Cheers store.

 

 

Sukhee Haesoo is a hangover relief drink that also enhances flavour

The Sukhee Haesoo Hangover Relief Drink, spotted in a Cheers convenience store in Singapore, is a unique hangover drink that also enhances flavour. The drink has sprouted barley and Acer tegmentosum Maxim, which help break down and eliminate hangover-causing astraldehyde, which can help consumers get over a hangover faster.

Sukhee Haesoo is available in various flavours, including mojito, red grapefruit and pomegranate & raspberry. This hangover relief drink can be consumed separately but it is meant to be combined with the alcoholic beverages such as plain soju. Consumers just remove the ring at the bottom of the product, insert the bottom part into the bottle’s opening, and turn it until it clicks. The content will then drain into the alcoholic drink to add additional flavours to the drink, while also serving as a hangover relief solution.

Eat Pizza, a South Korean pizza chain, recently exhibited at Franchise Expo Malaysia 2024, showcasing its 25-cm personal pizza concept. The pizza chain sought a local partner to bring the idea to Malaysia.

Eat Pizza has entered Singapore and Thailand with its one-person pizza, reflecting the growing trend of the one-person economy in South Korea and elsewhere in Asia. The single-person economy trend in food is reflected in pizza, suitable for solo dining, self-heating meals, and one-plate frozen meals. Growing in popularity in Japan, one-plate frozen meals are split-tray frozen meals that contain a main dish with sides that can be microwaved all at once.

Pizza Hut has a Personal Pan Pizza, but it comes in the typical round shape. Eat Pizza’s elongated personal pizza is more portable and convenient to consume.

Ichitan latest yogurt tea is a play on flavour

Ichitan, the Thai RTD tea maker, has recently launched a hybrid RTD tea that combines green tea with yogurt. The new drink comes in yogurt strawberry and yogurt lemon flavours. Even though the product claims to be a yogurt tea, the company did not list yogurt as an ingredient. Essentially, this yogurt tea is a play on flavour with a sour and sweet taste.

Decathlon Opens Pop-Up at Singapore Changi Airport Transit Area, First Globally

Decathlon’s newly-launched experiential duty-free pop-up will feature a curated range of innovative and practical sport and travel goods, along with exclusive Decathlon x Changi merchandise, as well as interactive experience zones 

SINGAPORE — Decathlon Singapore is proud to announce their latest venture: Its first-ever experiential retail pop-up, a global-first for the sports brand, at Singapore’s celebrated Changi Airport, in line with its mission to move people through the wonders of sport.
