The Marini’s Group calls for entries for annual Viva Marini Bartending Competition

Reminder to bartenders and mixologists to submit entries for the 2024 edition

KUALA LUMPUR (22 October 2024) – The Viva Marini Bartending Competition – the annual cocktail crafting challenge by acclaimed dining and entertainment conglomerate The Marini’s Group – is inviting bartenders and mixologists from far and near to mix, mash, pour and more in their third edition.

The competition opened for entries on 1 October 2024 and is accepting submissions until 31 October 2024. To enter, professional and home bartenders and mixologists will need to submit their original recipes in the form of a video/reel on Instagram. Participants must post a creative video of themselves crafting one cocktail based on the theme “Italian Twist” – a twist on a classic Italian cocktail.

Once submissions close, a total of 10 finalists will be shortlisted for the final showdown on 11 November 2024. This year, the live event will be held at the Marigin Bar at One KL, Kuala Lumpur. Each finalist will then have to present two drinks – their “Italian Twist” submission and another themed cocktail based on the theme “Glitterati” using certain spirits at the live event.

The winner will be determined by a panel of judges, who will taste the drinks and vote. A cash prize of RM10,000 awaits the champion of the 2024 Viva Marini Bartending Competition while the second and third place winners will receive RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively.

“The Viva Marini Bartending Competition was created with the goal of giving something back to the bartending community. It’s a fun and friendly platform for bartending talents to show what they are truly capable of. So if you’re a bartender or mixologist looking to shake things up in the industry, this is a chance for you to shine,” said Cavaliere Modesto Marini, founder and owner of The Marini’s Group, at the 12th Anniversary Party for the group and Marini’s on 57 today.

“We’ve seen high levels of creativity from many skilled individuals and we’re excited to see what they have to showcase in this 2024 edition,” he added.

The Viva Marini Bartending Competition was introduced in 2022 as part of the 10th anniversary celebration activities for Marini’s on 57 and The Marini’s Group. This cocktail challenge has become an exciting annual event and allows the talents behind the bar to prove they are masters of their craft by showcasing their knowledge, skills, passion and good palate.

Maestro Swiss, the maker of Vico chocolate malt beverage, has unveiled its latest Vico in a new ice cream format. The new product is a collaboration with Double Bells, a local ice cream brand.

As consumers express support for local brands in response to the Middle East conflict, Vico is emerging as a strong contender in the chocolate malt beverage segment.

The Vico brand has also launched a new collaboration with Didi & Friends, a popular 3D-animated musical edutainment cartoon for kids in Malaysia. The new Vico featuring Didi & Friends is now in the market.

Nuuna launches innovative Nasi Lemak noodles

Twenty-Twenty Food Industry Sdn. Bhd., the maker of Nuuna noodles and a unit BERNAS, has recently introduced the first-ever Nasi Lemak-flavoured instant noodles and instant vermicelli in Malaysia. Nuuna has taken a creative approach to the classic nasi lemak, reimagining it in a noodle format to appeal to adventurous eaters.

The company has also released the new Spicy Cheese instant noodles and instant vermicelli that combine the fiery heat and creamy cheese.

Tao Bin gets into the Halloween spirit

Tao Bin, Thailand’s innovative vending machine, is getting into the Halloween spirit with 15 spooky drink creations featuring PepsiCo beverages (Pepsi/7Up). Each drink has a unique blend of ingredients, often combining unexpected flavours. Here are a few examples:

  • Ghostly Bone Powder: (7Up + caramel + milk + Ovaltine topping)
  • Mortuary (Pepsi + caramel + milk)
  • Raising a Ghost: (7Up + strawberry + milk + Ovaltine topping)

Additionally, there is a special contest for LINE Tao Bin members where they can win movie tickets and discount codes by playing a game after purchasing a participating drink.

Green Spot unveils plant-based drinks Mixed Nuts and Oat Milk

Thailand’s Green Spot Co Ltd, known for its Vitamilk and V-Soy brands, has expanded its plant-based drink offerings in Thailand with the launch of Mixed Nuts and Oat Milk.

Mixed Nuts is a creamy blend of oats, almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios, plus a boost of antioxidants, vitamin E, D, calcium, folate and iodine. Oat Milk is low in fat with only 60kcal, ideal for those watching their calorie intake. Oat Milk is high in calcium, vitamin D, folate and iodine and is a source of vitamin A. Both products are likely to be free from soy.
